FTII Students Protest Admission Process Over Reservation Issues
FTII students are demanding a pause in the FTII JET 2025 admission process due to irregularities in the institute's reservation criteria. The Film and Television Institute of India released a revised merit list on 24 October 2025 at the official website. Check out the page to know the details.
The Students' Association of the Film and Television Institute of India has demanded that the admission authorities must stop the ongoing FTII JET 2025 admissions. According to them, the FTII JET Revised Final Merit List 2025, released by FTII on October 24, 2025, is not transparent and does not comply with the institute's reservation policies.
There are two stages in the FTII JET entrance exam: Stage 1 Written Test and Stage 2 Mixed Format Assessment-Practical, Analytical, Performance & Interaction. Instead of releasing the stage-wise marks, FTII released the final marks (Stage 1 + Stage 2 marks), making the JET Score list unclear.
Issue with FTII Admissions Process 2025
The Film and Television Institute of India first released its FTII JET Final Merit List on October 17, 2025. After receiving objections from students, the institute withdrew the first final merit list and released another Revised Merit List, stating errors in the first list. However, the students believe that the FTII JET revised final merit list still has discrepancies that need to be corrected.
The revised merit list has the following issues:
- Originally MFA in Screen Acting has 16 seats. However, the merit list shows that 23 students are admitted.
- The reservation quota for the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes categories was 15% and 7.5% respectively. However, the final merit list shows a reduced reservation quota.
FTII Admissions 2025: What are Students Demanding?
The students' unions want the Film and Television Institute of India to stop the ongoing admission process, release a FTII JET merit list with marks of both stages, ensure transparency in its reservation policy and admission process, and investigate the ongoing matter properly.
