IIM Calcutta has released its MBA 2027–29 admission policy. It details CAT 2026 cut-offs, an 85-point shortlisting formula for PI/WAT, and final selection weights giving 48 points to PI, 30 to CAT, 8 each to WAT and work experience, and 6 to diversity.

The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, has officially published the admission policy for its two-year full-time MBA programme for the 2027-29 batch. The document outlines academic eligibility norms, the minimum CAT 2026 percentile required, and the multi-stage evaluation process used for shortlisting candidates for the Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test rounds, followed by final merit list preparation.

CAT 2026 Cutoffs and Shortlisting Criteria for PI and WAT

To qualify for consideration in Stage I, candidates must secure non-negative raw scores across all sections of CAT 2026 and achieve minimum category-wise percentile cutoffs. Open category candidates need at least 80 percentile in VARC, 80 in DILR, 75 in Quant, and an overall percentile of 85. CAT Composite Score Calculation for IIM Calcutta Admissions

Eligible candidates are evaluated for Stage II shortlisting based on an 85-point composite score. This score has a maximum of 56 points to the candidate's CAT 2026 scaled score, 10 points for Class 10 marks, 15 points for Class 12 marks, and 4 points under the gender diversity factor awarded to female and transgender candidates.

IIM Calcutta Final Admission List

Final selection uses a 100-point composite score comprising the following components:

  • Personal Interview: 48 points
  • CAT 2026 Score: 30 points
  • Writing Ability Test: 8 points
  • Work Experience: 8 points
  • Academic Diversity: 6 points

The academic diversity component awards up to 6 points based on undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional backgrounds. Candidates with engineering degrees receive 0 points, non-engineering bachelor's degree holders receive 4 points. Work experience points are evaluated for completed managerial or executive roles after obtaining a bachelor's degree up to January 31, 2027.
