48 medical students in Karimnagar test Covid positive

Telangana private medical college's 48 students were found to be Covid positive after one week of annual day celebration.
One week after the students and staff of Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences in Bommakal village of Karimnagar, Telangana, participated in the annual day celebration of the institute, as many as 48 students have been found Covid-19 positive.
Health department officials suspect that large students gathering during the event have led to this outbreak.
The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) oversees the functioning of Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences in Karimnagar. Reports are emerging that despite the university having written multiple letters to all private medical colleges to strictly follow all Covid induced safety protocols, the college didn't follow the instructions.
The students reportedly complaint about coughs, colds and fevers for the past few days but they thought it was due to weather and being medical students, they took to self-medication. But when more and more students complained about these symptoms, college management started conducting testing on students for coronavirus. On Saturday, 18 of them were found to be Covid-19 positive, and on Sunday, 30 more students turned out to be positive for coronavirus infection.
The infected students are sent to their respective homes instead of being kept isolated and classes have been cancelled. As per reports, more students will be tested today in the college through a special medical camp and those who will be found Covid positive would be sent to isolation centres.
