AICTE has asked all educational institutions to make vacant seats available for admission for students who have come back from Ukraine. 

The All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) has asked all educational institutions to make vacant seats available for admission for students who have come back from Ukraine. In its latest notice, AICTE addressed all Vice-Chancellors of technical universities and all directors of AICTE-approved institutions and said, “As you are aware, around 20,000 Indian students are back in the country from the war-torn Ukraine, where they were pursuing courses in medical, engineering etc. in various universities of Ukraine.”

Ukraine returned students under depression due to uncertainty

It further talked about the anxiety and depression that the students are going through who have returned from Ukraine amid the war. Stating that their educational future is uncertain in the war-torn country, it added, “The matter was raised in the parliament and it was recommended that the Government of India would facilitate all educational possibilities for all those who want to continue their education in India as it concerns the future of thousands of Indians which should not be neglected.”

India in talks with Poland, Romania and Kazakhstan

External affairs minister of India S Jaishankar on April 6 informed that to assist Ukraine returned students, India is in talks with countries such as Poland, Romania and Kazakhstan to facilitate the completion of medical education of students who have returned from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, to assist medical students who have returned home from war-torn Ukraine after stopping their studies midway, the Maharashtra government recently launched a three-month-long online course, designed by the state's health sciences university. The course will be made available free of cost.
