AIIMS Bhopal Launches DM in Pediatric Endocrinology Course, Becomes Third Institute in India to Offer Super Specialty

AIIMS Bhopal has beome the third institute in the country to offer Doctorate of Medicine (DM) course in Pediatric Endocrinology Super Speciality programme. As of now the programme is only availble at AIIMS New Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh.

All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Bhopal has announced the commencement of the Doctorate of Medicine (DM) course in Pediatric Endocrinology. Type 1 diabetes, growth abnormalities, thyroid dysfunction, obesity, bone illnesses, and other endocrine disorders are among the increasingly expanding hormonal disorders in children that this recently formed DM program aims to prepare specialised physicians to address.

AIIMS Bhopal is now the third institute in India to offer this super-speciality medical course. Until now, it was only available at AIIMS Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh. Dr. Ajai Singh, director of AIIMS Bhopal, described it as a solid step toward improving access to healthcare services in the state.

Sharing about the programme, Dr. Singh said, "The DM course in Pediatric Endocrinology is not just an academic achievement, but a concrete step towards expanding access to healthcare services. Through this course, we are laying the foundation for specialist services not only in Madhya Pradesh but also in other parts of the country." 

On this occasion, Dr. Mahesh Maheshwari, Head of the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit at AIIMS Bhopal, highlighted that the course's goal is to equip individuals capable of understanding and efficiently managing complex hormonal disorders in children.

In addition, in collaboration with the state health department, AIIMS Bhopal would be able to give technical support for the organisation of Pediatric Diabetes Clinics at the district level, thereby improving the health system.
