Assam NEET Counselling 2026: Provisional List of Candidates Out; Apply for Category Change by Aug 11

Assam NEET Counselling 2026 notification is officially out. The Directorate of Medical Education has released the provisional list of candidates online. Meanwhile, students willing to change category can apply before August 11, along with the supporting documents to the Registrar's office.  

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has released the list of qualified candidates seeking MBBS or BDS admission under the state quota. DME Assam has issued an urgent notice for medical aspirants. The authority has released the initial names for the state quota seats. Candidates who cleared the NEET UG 2026 exam can now track their status online. This gateway manages admissions for first-year MBBS and BDS courses in government colleges through NEET scores. Assam NEET UG Counselling 2026: Details to Check in Provisional List 

Students have to check their name, roll number, category, gender, total marks obtained, percentile score, NEET rank and state name in the list. They have to ensure that all the added details are correct and carry all accurate information. 

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Assam: Submit DME Assam Category Change Form by August 11

The directorate is allowing candidates to correct their registration categories. If any student wants to modify their category, they must do the needful at the earliest. The official DME Assam category change form is available online from August 5, 2026. Applicants need to download this specific format from the official portal.

They must submit the filled form along with supporting proof. This submission must happen in person at the DME campus. The deadline for this correction is August 17, 2026. The department will reject any requests sent via email or postal courier for a category change.

New Rules for Out-of-State Assam Permanent Residents

The state government has modified the Assam MBBS BDS admission 2026 admission guidelines. A previous clause restricting students has been removed from the rulebook. This change helps local students who took their medical test in other states. If a student took the exam outside Assam but holds an Assam Permanent Resident Certificate, they can apply for a category change before August 11.
