Big Change in Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2026: Institutional Level Scrapped, All Admissions to be Online

Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2026 will undergo a major change as the state government has completely scrapped the institutional-level round. According to the revised Maharashtra NEET PG admission rules, all admissions to private medical colleges in Maharashtra, including NRI and institutional quotas, will now be conducted through a centralised NEET PG online counselling process managed directly by the Maharashtra CET Cell.

Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2026 Update: The Maharashtra Government has introduced major changes for postgraduate medical admissions in the state. In order to attain more transparency, the state has discontinued the physical institutional-level admission for the Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2026. According to the newly notified Maharashtra Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2026, all seats under the institutional quota and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota will now be filled through a centralised Maharashtra State NEET PG online 2026 counselling process. This entire procedure will be managed by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, ensuring that individual private colleges do not hold separate offline rounds at their campus levels.

Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2026: Eligibility Criteria Expanded for Private Medical Colleges

Under the updated guidelines released by the Maharashtra CET Cell, the eligibility for the institutional quota has been increased. Aspirants who hold a Maharashtra domicile certificate can now apply for institutional seats even if they completed their MBBS or BDS degrees from a university located outside the state. Furthermore, candidates coming from other states, as well as foreign medical graduates, are also permitted to register for institute-level vacant quota seats in private medical institutions.
