New Medical Colleges in India

Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has agreed to establish 10 new ESIC medical colleges across the country. Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, has officially announced the ratification of the establishment of medical colleges in India. The minister stated that the decision moves along with the government's decision to strengthen ESIC infrastructure and improve medical education across the country, empowering India's workforce.

The new ESIC medical colleges for the financial year 2024-25 will be situated in several states of India including Andheri (Maharashtra), Basaidarapur (Delhi), Ludhiana (Punjab), Naroda-Bapunagar (Gujarat), Noida, Guwahati-Beltola (Assam), Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Ranchi (Jharkhand), as reported by Medical Dialogues.

The decision was made during the ESI Corporation's 194th meeting and intends to improve access to excellent healthcare and medical training for both employees and the general public. The project will close healthcare gaps, particularly in semi-urban and rural locales where ESIC facilities are limited.

ESIC New Medical Colleges: 10 More Locations Under Consideration

The minister further stated that the expansion would help meet the growing need for medical education seats in government institutions across the country. In addition to the permitted institutions, ten other locations are being actively examined as potential ESIC medical colleges in the financial year 2024-25.

These potential sites include Pune and Nagpur in Maharashtra, Bhubaneshwar in Odisha, Asansol in West Bengal, Pandunagar in Uttar Pradesh, Manesar in Haryana, Kollam in Kerala, Surat in Gujarat, Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Margaon in Goa.
