The Indian medical students pursuing MBBS from China's universities continue their demand to get practical training in India.

Indian medicos of Chinese varsities continue protests to demand practical training in India

While Health Ministry is holding several meetings to find out a way to accommodate Ukraine returned medical students and students pursuing MBBS from China into Indian medical colleges, the medicos of Chinese varsities continue with their protest for demanding practical training in India.

Students of China's universities have been stranded in India since January 2020 after the Covid-19 outbreak in China. Since then, they are unable to go back to China and only attend the online classes offered by their colleges and the National Medical Commission (NMC) does not recognise a medical degree completed only through online classes. Also, NMC currently has no policy to accommodate these students.

However, Supreme Court has recently directed NMC to frame a scheme so that the medical students who returned to India due to compelling situations like war and pandemics can be accommodated at the Indian medical colleges.

NMC has asked the health ministry for its view, and the ministry is expected to come up with a solution soon as the court has given a two-month time frame to NMC.

Students gathered at Jantar Mantar to protest

The students and their parents gathered at the Jantar Mantar on Sunday to demand swift action so that these students can complete their practical training in India. The students said that they have been waiting for a long time and they want immediate action as their future is facing uncertainty.
