Ladakh Revises MBBS And BDS Admission Rules: New Guidelines Out For Central Pool MBBS, BDS Seats

The Ladakh administration has announced major changes to its medical and dental admission rules. The health and medical education department issued new Ladakh MBBS admission guidelines with approval from Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena. This change comes after the recent creation of seven new districts in the Union Territory. 

Under the updated MBBS BDS admission process in Ladakh, the authorities will drop the old category-wise roster framework. Instead, they will implement a common selection process to ensure fair allocation of seats for all qualified students. The administration will now publish a comprehensive, single Ladakh NEET merit list 2026 for all future admissions. This new system aims to make the distribution of medical seats more transparent and merit-based. 

Ladakh MBBS BDS Admission 2026: New Selection Rules

The old medical admission system divided candidates into separate columns based on their gender, residential districts like Leh or Kargil, and reservation status. The government has now discontinued that separate category path. From this year onward, a single merit list will determine admissions.

The final Ladakh medical seat allocation will depend on NEET rank. Candidates must select their preferred colleges during the choice-filling process. For the current academic session, the Central government has provided nine total medical seats in Ladakh. This includes seven MBBS seats and two BDS seats distributed across various top colleges in India.
