Medical Seats in Uttar Pradesh Increased by 950 MBBS, 271 PG Medical Seats; Check Revised Govt & Private Intake

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has approved an addition of 950 MBBS and 271 PG medical seats across government and private medical colleges for the academic session 2025. A total of 950 MBBS and 271 PG medical seats have been addressed across government and private medical colleges in the state.
The decision to increase UG PG medical seats in Uttar Pradesh has been made to strengthen the state's healthcare system and provide more opportunities to students willing to pursue medical careers. According to media reports, the increase of medical seats is part of the state’s action towards doctor shortages and improving medical training facilities in the state. These new seats will help to tackle the growing demand for healthcare professionals in both urban and rural areas in Uttar Pradesh.
UP Medical Seats Increase: Govt and Private Ratio
The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned the increase of UG and PG medical seats in the state. A total of 750 MBBS seats across 12 medical institutes will be added to private medical colleges. Additionally, 200 new MBBS seats will be introduced in three government-run medical colleges.
As a result, the total number of MBBS seats in Uttar Pradesh will be approximately 12,800 for the academic year 2025-26. Out of which, 5,450 will be in government colleges and 7,350 will be in private medical colleges.
Meanwhile, a total of 271 MD and MS seats will be added to the PG seat intake in Uttar Pradesh. Out of these, 233 medical seats in the government college and 38 seats will be offered in the private medical college.
