NCAHP Draft rules for Allied Health Science Courses: Know the New Education Standards for Paramedical Courses

The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) is streamlining the rules for the paramedical courses which come under the purview of the central government now. New norms have been drafted for the educational institutes that are offering paramedical courses. NCAHP aims to control the role of the state-run bodies in managing the allied Health Science courses in this regard.
What is the way forward?
Autonomous State-level bodies have been set up that will be held responsible for implementing a syllabi for AHP Programmes. Candidates who earn degrees in these courses will get proper registration done and a database of such professionals will be maintained under the purview of NCAHP.
What are the new rules?
As per the new rules drafted by the NCAHP, the unregulated market of the allied health science courses will get a direction. A uniform curriculum and admission criteria have already been established for 15 paramedical courses. All such courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels will be managed bythe National Medical Commission (NMC,), which is the apex body for medical education. While the NCAHP will be set up for each state where paramedical courses are being pursued by the aspirants. They will manage the functions and operations at the state-level.
