NEET MDS Counselling 2026 Delayed: The Medical Counselling Committee has delayed the counselling process for MDS admission across India. The NEET MDS 2026 counselling delay has created anxiety among qualified dental doctors. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) declared the NEET MDS results on June 2, 2026. However, more than two months have passed since the result declaration, and the official state or national schedule is not yet announced.
MCC has not yet updated the counselling portal for postgraduate dental admissions. Over 18,000 qualified students are currently left clueless. They cannot plan their academic timelines, choose their specialities, or make career decisions.

There is no limit on the number of choices that a candidate can fill during the counselling of NEET MDS. These choices, however, should be in the order of preference as desired by the candidate. It must be noted choices have to be locked in the given deadline other it gets automatically locked. Candidates are advised to fill choices carefully as it can't be modified once the timeframe ends. Seats will be allotted based on choice declared by candidates and other factors. Total four rounds of NEET MDS counselling is held for allotment of 50% All India quota seats.
No, candidates will have to make online registration to participate in the counseling process for NEET MDS seat allotment. Registration can be done on the official website, mcc.nic.in once counselling begins. Registration is mandatory to become eligible for seat allotment process. The counselling authority has not given an official reason for the long delay in the counselling process. However, reports highlights the main cause of the delay is the MDS seat matrix approval process from participating dental colleges. Meanwhile, pending clearance from the Dental Council of India (DCI) can also be the reason for the delay. MCC wants to ensure zero seat allocation errors before starting the counselling process. Hence, it is another possible reason for the delay.
When Will NEET MDS Counselling 2026 Begin?
Experts predict the portal will open anytime soon in August 2026. Medical experts state that the complete NEET MDS seat matrix will be released along with the counselling schedule.
Once the application process is active, candidates will register for the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The centralised platform will also handle admissions for Deemed Universities, Central Universities, and Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) institutions.
