NEET PG 2025: NMC Defends Normalization, Dismisses Malpractice Concerns

NMC Chairman defended the NEET PG normalisation process, stating that the method is used worldwide to judge students at par and also to create All India Ranks. Students and stakeholders should not have concerns about the process.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) Chairman, Dr. BN Gangadhar, dismissed the concerns about the NEET PG normalization process in response to doctors' disagreement with the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) exam being scheduled in two shifts. Dr. Gangadhar stated that the normalization process is being used globally to get the All India Rank (AIR) and that there is no need to be concerned about the entire process, pointing out that it is globally accepted, as reported by Education Times.
Following the NBEMS' announcement of NEET PG exam in two shifts on June 15, 2025, doctors nationwide were concerned about the way the exam will be conducted The second shift is set for 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, while the first shift is set for 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Stakeholders have claimed that the normalization formula, which was established for NEET PG 2024 to ensure justice by adjusting the marks across different exam shifts, is incorrect and includes malpractice. Because of this, students across India demanded the release of the NEET PG answer key and paper solution in order to improve transparency in the entrance examination.
A few applicants who took the second shift of the NEET PG 2024 examination questioned the normalization method used by NBEMS and further alleged that the board were deceiving them under the pretext of a competitive exam. They referred to the method for calculating scores as highly divisive and noted that the Shift 2 test was more difficult than the Shift 1 paper. Aspirants requested transparency in the NEET PG 2024 exam, bringing these concerns to the Supreme Court as well.
