The NEET PG 2026 exam has concluded today, August 30. Over 2.7 lakh students who applied for the postgraduate medical entrance examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) are now out of their exam hall. The exam was conducted in a single shift from 9 am to 12:30 pm across 1,111 centres in 338 cities across India. This year's examination introduced a major change in the paper structure, with the number of questions in the NEET PG question paper reduced from 200 to 180, while the overall examination duration remained 3.5 hours. The maximum marks were also reduced from 800 to 720.
Candidates faced five time-bound sections with 36 questions to be completed within 42 minutes for every section. Once the allotted time ended, the section was locked, and candidates could not return to questions from that section.
NEET PG 2026 Difficulty Level
Based on initial students' feedback, the NEET PG 2026 paper difficulty was moderate to difficult. Students reported that clinical case-based questions were lengthy, and a few questions required careful reading before answering. Reportedly, several questions were three-to-four-line clinical scenarios where candidates had to apply concepts rather than rely solely on understanding.

NEET PG exam centre is released along with the admit card. Exact address and location of the test centres shall be indicated in NEET PG admit card. The reporting time is given in the admit card. Candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with the test centre locations at least one day prior to the examination day and ensure that they report for the exam as per scheduled time only. Candidates must note those who issued admit card will be allowed entry inside the examination centre premises subject to fulfilment of documentary requirements.
As such no section is easy in NEET PG syllabus. Some candidates may find clinical section easy while others may perceive para clinical as difficult. In reality, all the three sections clinical pre and para clinical are equally difficult and candidates have to devote good amount of time to prepare in and out of every subjects. It must be noted, a good number of questions are clinical based, so this section holds huge importance.
Some topics of pre and para clinical are utmost important as lots of questions are from them. Point is candidates should prepare all three sections in such manner so that 90 percent questions can be answered easily. Last year, clinical section was difficult in comparision to other two sections.
NEET PG 2025 question paper was difficult as compared to last year. The overall difficulty level of the question paper was moderate to difficult. More than 80 pecent questions were based on clinical scenerio. A good number of questions were asked from topics such as Surgury, Gynaecology (OBS GYNE) and other topics. 160-170 questions were easy to attempt.
Student reactions to the NEET PG 2026 exam were mixed. A few of them found the paper moderate, while some students found it more difficult than previous years.
- Several students reported that 42-minutes were very few, particularly in the first and second sections where lengthy clinical cases required more time.
- A student who appeared in the NEET PG exam reported that some questions had two options that appeared closely related, making it difficult to select the right answer.
