NEET PG 2026 Records 2.73 Lakh Registrations; Union Minister Nadda Reviews Exam Preparedness

NEET PG 2026 has recorded its highest-ever registration with 2.73 lakh candidates. The exam will be conducted in a single shift across 340 cities and over 1,300 centres. Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda urged aspirants not to fall prey to misinformation or rumours.

The NEET PG 2026 exam has recorded its highest-ever registrations with 2,73,183 candidates registering for the postgraduate medical entrance test. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there has been around a 12.5 per cent increase in NEET PG registration 2026 compared to last year. The NEET PG 2026 exam will be conducted in a single shift across 340 cities and more than 1,300 examination centres.

Record Registrations for NEET PG 2026

Officials said that 2,73,183 candidates have registered for NEET PG 2026. This is the highest number of registrations ever for the examination. The exam will be conducted in one shift across approximately 340 cities and over 1,300 examination centres. Hence, the authorities are making every possible effort for the smooth conduct of the examination. For that, the followig student friendly reforms have been introduced: 

• Candidates were allowed to select three preferred states while filling the application form.
• The allotted test city will be announced nearly three weeks before the examination.
• The question paper has been revised to 180 questions to be completed in 210 minutes.
• Aadhaar-based authentication during registration and on exam day.
• Multi-layer checking at examination centres.
• Iris-based biometric verification wherever fingerprint authentication fails.

Health Minister Appeals to Candidates

Ahead of the exam, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda reviewed the preparedness and directed officials to ensure a smooth, transparent and secure examination process. He further appealed to candidates not to believe rumours circulating on social media and assured them that security arrangements have been put in place. The government has also introduced student-centric reforms this year to improve accessibility and reduce travel time.
