The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the NEET PG counselling dates 2026 at its official website along with the information brochure. The NEET PG 2026 counselling brochure has been updated with several changes this year. MCC has introduced major changes in NEET PG 2026 counselling process this year compared with last year brochure. The key changes in NEET PG counselling 2026 process include the introduction of Freeze and Float options, online document upload and verification for certain candidates, an online NRI quota process, expanded PwD medical assessment boards, an extended internship completion deadline and a 24x7 MCC help desk.
NEET PG Counselling 2026: What Has Changed?
The MCC has introduced major changes to make the counselling and admission process easier. The major changes are:

As per the notification, the NEET PG 2026 counselling process is set to begin with Round 1 registration from October 12, 2026. The registration window will remain open until October 21, while choice filling will begin on October 13.
NEET PG 2026 Freeze and Float Option
One of the biggest changes in NEET PG 2026 counselling process is the introduction of the Freeze and Float options for candidates with their allotted seats.
- Candidates who are satisfied with their allotted seat and do not want an upgrade can select Freeze.
- Candidates who want to retain their allotted seat while seeking an upgrade can opt for Float.

No. Candidates need the minimum cut off to qualify for NEET PG. It must be noted only those who qualify the exam with the minimum cut off score will be eligible to participate in the counselling rounds for seat allotment. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts online counselling for seat allotment. Candidates have to register and declare choice for college and course for seat allotment.
The duration of NEET PG counselling depends on number of vacant seats after each round. Usually, the counselling process goes on for over two months time. Each round of NEET PG counselling takes around 15-20 days time starting from registration to reporting. Initial rounds takes a bit more time than last rounds. Candidates have to register online and declare choice for college and course for seat allotment. Registration can be done on the official website. A total of 4 rounds of counselling is held for seat allotment. Based on choice declared by candidates, available seats, NEET PG rank, reservation factor etc. seats are allotted to candidates.
Candidates who qualify NEET PG exam with minimum cutoff marks as decided by NBE will be eligible to participate in the counselling. The qualifying cut off varies as per the category. To participate in NEET PG 2025 counselling, candidates will have to register on the official website, mcc. Nic. In. They also have to fill choice for college and course and lock them in the given deadline. Seat allotment is done based on different factors such as choice declared, availability of seats in particular college and course, NEET PG rank etc.
MCC has also introduced online resignation or surrender of seats for Float candidates. These candidates can log in to the MCC portal, select the resignation/surrender option and submit the request online within the prescribed deadline.
NEET PG 2026 NRI Quota Process Becomes Online
The NRI quota counselling process has also been changed. In 2025, candidates seeking NRI eligibility had to email supporting documents to MCC before each round. This year, the process will be completed through the MCC portal.
