The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that MS in Traumatology and Surgery is now considered as a Feeder course for MCh in Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery for the NEET SS 2024 exam.

NEET SS 2024 Exam Feeder Course Now Includes Traumatology and Surgery

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that PG degree holders in Traumatology and Surgery are now eligible for the NEET SS 2024 exam, as per the decision by PGMEB-NMC. MS in Traumatology and Surgery is now considered as a Feeder course for MCh in Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Announcing the same, NBE has stated, β€œAccordingly, qualified candidates of MS-Traumatology and Surgery are hereby given an opportunity to apply for NEET-SS 2024. The application form can be submitted NBEMS.”

At present there are 13 feeder groups. The question papers of these groups will consist of questions from the General/Basic component of the respective primary feeder broad specialty subject and from all sub-specialty/ systems/component of that primary feeder broad specialty subject.

NEET SS 2024 Application Ends Soon

The application process for NEET SS 2024 started on February 4, 2025. The last date of application is February 24, 2025.

The application correction window will be provided from February 27 to March 3, 2025.

The NEET SS 2024 exam will be conducted on March 29 and March 30, 2025, for two slots each day. The exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode for a duration of three hours.

Q: Β  How many slots are there in the NEET SS exam?
A:

The NEET SS exam is conducted for a window of two days, with two slots each day. Hence, the total number of slots in which the NEET SS exam is conducted is four. Each of the slots conducts different exam groups. The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours or 150 minutes. The table below brings the slot-wise timings of the NEET SS exam.

Afternoon Slot 2 PM to 4.30 PM

There are a total of 15 groups which are covered in the NEET SS exam. These groups are divided into the four slots conducted over two days.

Q: Β  I am 42 years old, can I apply for NEET SS?
A:

Yes, there is no age limit for the candidates appearing for NEET SS. Age limit is one of the eligibility criteria. Other important criteria is Candidate should possess a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB/ Equivalent) from a recognised institution. The National Board of Examinations NBE will release an official information brochure, comprising important details such as eligibility criteria, exam pattern, application process etc. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before applying online for the exam.

Q: Β  Is there any quota or preference in NEET SS for someone who has working in a govt. hospital after doing Masters in general surgery in AP?
A:
There is no specific quota or preference for candidates who have worked in a government hospital after completing their Masters in General Surgery in Andhra Pradesh (Andhra Pradesh) in NEET SS. However, candidates who have completed their Masters in General Surgery may have an advantage in the exam as they would have already completed some of the coursework and gained practical experience in the field.
