NEET SS Cutoff 2025 to Drop to 30th Percentile; 6,000+ Students to Benefit: Centre to SC

NEET SS 2025 cutoff is set to drop from the 50th to the 30th percentile for the upcoming Special Stray Vacancy Round, following the Centre's informing the Supreme Court. The decision is expected to benefit over 6,000 additional candidates by filling 1,857 vacant super-speciality seats, including 1,094 DM/MCh and 763 DNB-SS seats.

NEET SS 2025 Cutoff Reduced? The Central Government is planning to reduce the NEET SS 2025 qualifying cutoff from the 50th percentile to the 30th percentile for the upcoming Special Stray Vacancy Round NEET SS counselling. The decision was communicated to the Supreme Court after concerns over a large number of super-speciality medical seats left vacant after the second round of counselling.

The reduction in cutoff is expected to make approximately 6,000 additional candidates eligible for the upcoming counselling round. According to reports, 1,857 super-speciality seats remained vacant, including DM/MCh and DNB-SS seats. Candidates who have already secured and joined seats in previous rounds will not be permitted to upgrade or switch seats in the NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round 2026. 

NEET SS Cutoff 2025 Reduced From 50th to 30th Percentile

Reportedly, the centre informed the Supreme Court that the qualifying percentile for NEET Super Speciality (NEET-SS) admissions would be reduced from the 50th percentile to the 30th percentile for the Special Stray Vacancy Round. The decision has been made to prevent super-speciality seats from remaining empty and ensure that available medical training capacity is utilised. However, the revised cutoff will apply specifically to the NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round and not to previous counselling rounds.
