The new training programme is likely to begin in the next semester, and NIHFW will be the responsible authority for conducting training, research and capacity building activities for public health professionals. 

NIHFW to launch new training programme

The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW) plans to introduce a new training program for doctors that will help them interact appropriately with patients and their families. The need for this new course emerges amid an increase in the number of conflicts reported at healthcare facilities and In an effort to improve doctor-patient communication.

The programme is expected to be introduced within the next six months, as reported by Medical Dialogues.  The NIHFW is the Union Health Ministry's nodal organization for training, capacity-building and research operations for public health professionals.

Dr. Dheeraj Shah, Director of NIHFW, stated during a media interaction that the hospital administration courses offered by the organization include sections related to conflict resolution and the teaching of interpersonal abilities to doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and other healthcare service providers.

He further stated that the need for the course originated in response to a requirement from healthcare professionals. As an aspect of the training program, healthcare employees will learn how to interact effectively with those in stress, female patients, and others in need. The training program will also cover conflict resolution.  Following approval from the program advisory committee, the initiative will be implemented in the coming months,

Shah further stated that several training programmes are being conducted for doctors, nurses and other healthcare service providers in order to get a smooth healthcare delivery. Likewise, healthcare workers receive instruction regarding time management alongside additional skills around the year.
