NMC Releases Revised MBBS Seat Matrix 2026-27; Check State-wise MBBS Seats in Government & Private Colleges

The NMC MBBS seat matrix 2026-27 has been revised again, notifying a total of 1,40,664 MBBS seats excluding Institutes of National Importance (INIs), based on approvals granted by MARB and appeal committees. A total of 64,121 seats in government and 76543 seats in private colleges are now up for admission. 

MBBS Seat Matrix 2026 Revised Again: National Medical Commission has once again revised the MBBS seat matrix 2026-27. The updated NMC seat matrix 2026 includes the latest approvals granted for new medical colleges as well as colleges with increased annual intake capacity. This revised NMC MBBS seat matrix 2026 has been released following the decisions of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), National Medical Commission (NMC), the 1st Appeal Committee of NMC and the 2nd Appeal Committee of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

As per the revised NMC seat matrix, a total of 1,40,664 MBBS seats have been notified for the academic year 2026-27, excluding seats in Institutes of National Importance (INIs). NMC had earlier published the MBBS seat matrix for 2026-27 on September 11, with 1,40,214 seats.

NMC Issues Notice to Counselling Committees

NMC has addressed all medical colleges, highlighting that admission shall be made only to the approved number of seats. Any admission made in excess of the approved intake capacity shall not be treated as valid. The board has mentioned that under no circumstances shall the college admit students in excess of the approved annual intake capacity.
