Odisha SC ST Admission

The Odisha state government has made an announcement for students belonging to marginalised communities. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed that Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students will not pay admission fees for government medical and engineering seats. The state-level decision was made following a meeting on Monday.Β

The Chief Minister mentioned that they noticed many bright students face financial issues during college admissions. Even after passing tough national entry tests, students struggle to gather immediate admission fees. This new welfare rule aims to solve that financial problem for underprivileged students directly.

In order to support bright students from economically weaker sections, the government aims to reduce the expenses and high admission fees that often act as a secondary barrier. The state government will manage the backend financial support for these institutions.
