Poor medical students of Zindagi Foundation get sponsorship

Zindagi Foundation provides free coaching to poor students aspiring to be doctors. Many of its students are children of the rickshaw driver, milk vendors, landless farmers and weavers. A total of 19 such students of Zindagi Foundation belonging to economically weaker families have made it to medical colleges. Out of these 13 students will get sponsorship by a US-based body, and some individuals and groups in India.

These students include those who have cleared the entrance examination to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, said Ajay Bahadur Singh, who launched Zindagi Foundation in Bhubaneswar, as reported by The Print.

He said the benefactors came forward on their own.

"Saloni Heart Foundation, an NGO based in California, USA has awarded MBBS scholarship grants to four underprivileged students of the group. Leading NGO ShikshaDaan has adopted five students and Bhubaneswar-based Easter Drug has adopted one student of foundation this year, while another student was adopted by a Dubai-based organisation. Besides, there are some angelic personalities who do not want to reveal their identities and have adopted students from the foundation to ensure their trouble-free studies,” he added.

β€œAll students have their own stories of struggle and success. I am really proud of what they have achieved,β€œ he further added.

There is an inspiring story behind Zindagi Foundation. His founder Ajay Bahadur Singh had to quit his medical dreams due to financial constraints when he was preparing for his medical entrance examination. Now, he helps other poor students in getting admission to medical colleges through his foundation.

The foundation started its operations in 2017 in Bhubaneswar. Around 70 students of the foundation have cracked the NEET exam to qualify for admission to government medical colleges.
