Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026: BFUHS Restores Punjab Quota Seats; Releases Notice for Sports Category

BFUHS has restored the Punjab state quota NEET UG candidature for four debarred students, along with releasing the Punjab NEET sports merit list for the upcoming Round 2 seat allotment process. The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has issued a major update for medical aspirants seeking MBBS and BDS admissions in the state. The university has restored the candidature of four students for the 85% Punjab state quota UG medical seats. Earlier, these candidates were debarred from the Punjab NEET counselling 2026 process due to non-qualification of admission criteria. They were debarred for applying in multiple states simultaneously for admissions. 

BFUHS received representations from the affected students. The university authorities verified their official records with other states. After thorough cross-checking, BFUHS cleared their names and restored their candidature. They can now participate in the MBBS and BDS admission process in the further counselling rounds.

However, this restoration does not guarantee a confirmed seat. The students must still clear all other eligibility criteria during the upcoming counselling rounds of Punjab MBBS and BDS admissions.

Punjab NEET Counselling 2026: Admission Through Sports Category Introduced

In a separate notice, BFUHS has shared an update for the sports category students. The Punjab Sports Department has prepared the official sports category merit list. This list will be used for the Punjab NEET UG 2026 Round 2 seat allotment. This is the first time sports category seats are being allocated for MBBS and BDS Admissions.

The university also clarified how tie-breakers will work. If two sports candidates have the same merit marks, BFUHS will check their NEET UG 2026 rank. The candidate with the better rank gets priority.
