Students approached SC as NEET-SS 2025 exam dates (27-28th December) are likely clashing with final-year university examinations for MD/MS/DNB courses at various medical universities.

The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a plea challenging scheduling of NEET-SS 2025 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Super Specialty) examination.

SC bench led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih while hearing a petition which highlighted a likely conflict between the NEET SS exam dates, set for December 27–28, 2025, and ongoing final-year university examinations for MD/MS/DNB courses at various medical institutions across India, dismissed the petition.

CJI BR Gavai while delivering the judgement observed, “This is a matter of policy. We cannot intervene. Dismissed.”

Advocates representing NEET-SS aspirants argued that the overlapping schedule, compounded by three notifications issued by National Board of Examinations (NBE), one during a judicial vacation, severely disadvantaged students.

However, Chief Justice Gavai ruled that the matter pertains to policy decisions, stating, "This is a matter of policy. We cannot intervene. Dismissed," reported Bar & Bench.

The NEET-SS is an important examination for medical graduates seeking super-specialty training in fields like cardiology, neurology, and oncology. The NBE had initially scheduled NEET-SS exam for November 7–8, 2025, however later revising its schedule to December.
