More than 2,000 FYJC students claim seats during special admission round
Despite conducting the extra round, reports suggest that according to the education department, nearly 40,000 FYJC students are still without a seat.
FYJC Admissions 2021: Over 2,522 students claimed seats and 1,768 confirmed admission on day one of the first-come, first-served (FCFS) admissions for junior college. Despite conducting the extra round, reports suggest that according to the education department, nearly 40,000 FYJC students are still without a seat. Out of the 2.5 lakh students who applied for the centralized online process in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, 2.1 lakh secured a seat.
However, there nearly 1 lakh seats that were yet to be filled. Following this, the education department conducted another round of FCFS admissions. Students who had already filled up admission forms or want to join afresh will be allowed to do so in the second round. Until February 12, students will be available to view live vacancies of seats across colleges and claim them. Students can confirm admission by February 13.
According to a committee official, the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) committee got triggered by the high number and decided to hold another final round. This year, the authority conducted three regular rounds, two special rounds and seven first-come-first-served rounds for the admissions. In Pune, 36,000 seats (34.4%) remained vacant while 16,670 students did not get admissions against an intake of over 1.07 lakh seats.
Earlier, while talking about the outcome of these admission rounds, A S Ukirde, deputy director of education for Pune division, said, “There are many students who confirmed their admissions online but did not upload the documents or did not get an allotment at all. There are students who thought their admission was confirmed and did not apply in the first-come-first-served round. Parents have been coming to our office seeking an extension of dates. We sought permission from the director for an additional round which has been permitted and would be announced in a day or two.”
