More than 3,000 JNV students returned home safely amid lockdown: HRD Minister
More than 3,000 students studying in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across the country have reached their respective homes safely, the Education Minister said.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has today announced that more than 3,000 students who were studying in 173 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across the country have reached safely to their homes, amidst the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. The JNVs are residential schools.
“Today, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya commissioner informed the ministry that more than 3,000 students studying in 173 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country have reached their homes safely during the COVID-19 lockdown,” the Minister tweeted.
He also informed that there was no unpleasant event reported during the journey of the student to their respective home. He also congratulated the JNV commissioner; state, and district commissioners for their contribution.
Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had directed states and Union Territories to allow inter-state movement of buses and trains, during the lockdown 2.0 and 3.0, to help stranded students in different parts of the country to reach their hometown safely.
Different state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra arranged special buses to bring back students from Kota, Rajasthan, during lockdowns 2 and 3.
On May 13, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), hostellers from Jharkhand left for their homes on a special train.
The Government of India has been taking several steps to ensure all stranded people around the country and globe reach their homes safely. As per the data released by the Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri more than 20,000 stranded people have been brought back home from abroad under Vande Bharat Mission.
