Bihar’s unemployment rate is over 7 percent, particularly among graduates; therefore, TRE-4 has become a key political issue. RJD leaders tweet is also seen as an attempt to attract youth voters.

As Bihar gears up for 2025 Assembly elections, battle over teacher recruitment has taken center stage. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has accused Nitish Kumar led NDA government of betraying youth aspirations by reducing numbers of vacancies in Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE)-4.

In an X post, Yadav highlighted his previous government's achievements in TRE-1 and TRE-2, while vowing to kickstart TRE-4 "immediately" if they are elected to power.

Tejaswi Yadav writes: “In our 17-month tenure, we successfully appointed over 2 lakh teachers under 𝐓𝐑𝐄-𝟏 and 𝐓𝐑𝐄-𝟐 without any paper leaks, and the recruitment process for 1 lakh 30 thousand posts was initiated. After our government left, the new government announced in March that teacher recruitment for 1 lakh 27 thousand posts under 𝐓𝐑𝐄-𝟒 would soon take place, but now they have suddenly reduced it by one lakh posts. Everyone knows the Chief Minister’s record of flip-flopping and backtracking on promises. When, who, and how someone made him say or write something, even he doesn’t know? As soon as our government is formed, the 𝐓𝐑𝐄-𝟒 recruitment process will be started immediately.”

BPSC TRE-4 Vacancy outrage

The reduction in TRE-4 vacancies has triggered protests from thousands of aspirants across Bihar. Candidates also held protests in different cities including state capital Patna. Some of them have also taken to social media platforms like X, to amplify slogans like “TRE-4 bhagao”, to demand transparency and faster recruitment.

On the other hand state government has announced Bihar State Eligibility Test (STET) 2025 will be conducted on October 14. Aspirants have alleged that overlapping exam schedules and TRE-4 delay are sign of administrative inefficiency of Nitish government.

Bihar’s unemployment rate is over 7 percent, particularly among graduates; therefore, TRE-4 has become a key political issue. RJD leaders tweet is also seen as an attempt to attract youth voters.

One X user tagged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, writing, “Where’s that tweet promising swift TRE-4? Elections are here, vacancies aren’t!” Another commented, “Jobs, not promises, will decide Bihar’s future this time.”

As election campaigning gathers momentum, Bihar’s 15 million young voters, many aspiring teachers, are closely watching TRE-4 issue.
