What is the SSC CGL New Normalisation Formula?

The candidates can see below the new SSC CGL Normalisation Formula:

    Procedure for SSC Score Normalisation

The normalisation will be carried out separately for each test, subject, or area and involves the following three key steps:

Step 1: Converting Raw Scores into Percentile Scores

    • For each shift, the raw scores of all candidates are converted into percentile scores.
    • These percentiles are calculated independently for each shift, capturing a candidate’s relative performance in their specific session.

Step 2: Mapping Percentiles to Marks Scale

    • All percentile data from various shifts are merged into a single dataset.
    • The combined data is then sorted in descending (or ascending) order of percentiles.
    • Interpolation is used to fill gaps in the raw score table, allowing the percentile values to be mapped back onto the marks scale consistently.

Step 3: Generating SSC Normalised Scores

    • After Step 2, each percentile corresponds to a specific raw score for each session.
    • This mapping is then used to derive the normalized score for each candidate across all shifts.
    • The final output is a standardized, comparable score for every candidate, regardless of the shift in which they appeared.
