Staff Selection Commission has received a record breaking applications for Combined Higher Secondary Level exam 2025. According to official data, over 30 lakh candidates have applied for 3,131 vacancies.  This highlights growing demand for secure government jobs after class 12. SSC CHSL 2025 Tier 1 exam is scheduled to be held from November.

SSC CHSL exam is conducted annually to recruit candidates for clerical roles like Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator in various ministries and central government departments. Increase in SSC CHSL applications is due to better salary structure, job stability, and basic eligibility.

With 30 lakh applicants applying for just 3,131 posts, SSC CHSL 2025 has become most competitive exams in recent years. SSC CHSL recruitment process includes two main stages Tier 1 (Computer-Based Test) and Tier 2, followed by a Skill Test or Typing Test depending on post. 

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam City Intimation Slip 

Staff Selection Commission released SSC CHSL exam city slip for tier 1 exam on November 5, 2025. Candidates can download SSC CHSL city slip online at official website ssc.gov.in. They can know allotted SSC CHSL exam date, shift timings and city through City - Live tab on their dashboards. Those who have not been allotted the preferred city can submit objections against same through feedback portal till November 8.

Q:   What are the total marks in SSC CHSL Tier 1?

The Commission conduct the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam in online mode. SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam holds a total weightage of 200 marks. As per the SSC CHSL exam pattern, the Tier 1 has 100 questions, 25 MCQs from each of the four subjects/sections - English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answers given by candidates.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Marking Scheme:

The Commission mentioned the SSC CHSL marking pattern in the official notification. The correct answer will fetch 2 marks and 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Q:   Are all the tiers of the SSC CHSL exam conducted in online mode?

Yes, SSC CHSL Tier 1 and Tier 2 are conducted in an online mode. SSC CHL Tier 1 exam is the most important tier of the SSC CHSL exam, and hence the candidates should practice so that they can score better on this tier. The marks scored in the Tier 1 exam are normalized by the Staff Selection Commission SSC and the result is prepared based on the normalized marks. The candidates need to score equal to or more than the cutoff marks to get selected for the next tier.
Q:   Is it mandatory to appear for all the tier of SSC CHSL exam?
A:

Yes, it is mandatory to appear for all the two tiers of SSC CHSL exam. Candidates qualifying for the CHSL Tier 1 exam are called to appear for the Tier 2 paper. The SSC CHSL Tier 2 is conducted in two sessions - Session –I & Session II, on the same day. Session-I includes conducting of Section-I, Section-II, and Modules-I of Section-III and Session-II includes conducting of Modules-II of Section-III. It is mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all the sections of Tier II.
