UGC NET 2026: NTA to Re-Conduct English, Commerce and Sociology Exams; Check Dates
UGC NET 2026 exam for English, Commerce and Sociology will be conducted again after multiple errors were found. NTA UGC NET re-exams will be held in September, with no additional fee for candidates.
UGC NET 2026: National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that UGC NET June 2026 exam for English, Commerce and Sociology will be conducted again after a committee found multiple errors in question papers. Those appearing for UGC NET re-conducted exams will not have to pay any additional exam fee. UGC NET June 2026 was originally held from June 22 to 30, 2026, across 87 subjects for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes.

NTA received several complaints regarding errors in UGC NET question papers of English, Commerce and Sociology. After multiple complaints, NTA constituted a committee to examine issues. They found several factual, typographical and translation-related errors.
There were misspelled names of scholars, distorted book titles, errors in question wording, grammatical mistakes, gender and number agreement errors, punctuation issues and non-standard terms for established concepts. They also noted repetition of some number of questions that had been asked in previous exams.

No. The Commission will release the UGC NET notification 2026 for the December session in the form of PDF at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The registration will also start for the December sesison along with the notification.
The UGC NET 2026 June session exam was started on June 22 and ended on June 30. The whole schedulewas announced on the official portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The notification was released on April 29.
The UGC NET City Intimation Slip or City Slip is a document released by the NTA to inform candidates about the city where the exam center is located. Basically, it is not the admit card but provides advance information to help candidates make travel arrangements in advance.
NTA clarified that re-conduct of three papers will not delay UGC NET results for remaining 84 subjects. For Assistant Professor eligibility, number of candidates qualifying will be equal to 6% of those who appeared in June 2026 exam or re-test, whichever is higher.
For English, Commerce and Sociology, subject-wise allocation for JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admission will be carried out in accordance with UGC NET Information Bulletin. NTA has also clarified that number of seats or qualifying candidates already allocated to these subjects will not be reduced after re-examination.
