UPSC to publish Provisional Answer Key after Prelims Exam

The affidavit mentions, representation/objection will be sought from candidates who appeared in the examination. Each such representation should be supported by three authoritative sources.
In a major step towards bringing transparency and fairness in its examination process, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will now publish a provisional answer key after the prelims exams are over.
As per an affidavit in the name of UPSC circulating on X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram, from next year onwards the Commission will publish provisional answer key after prelims exam. This has been a long standing demand of the Civil Services aspirants, to bring more transparency in the exam process.
As per reports, candidates will be able to challenge answers by submitting three reliable references, a panel of subject experts will assess these objections before finalizing. The Final Answer Key will be issued only after the Prelims results.

In March this year, a Parliamentary Committee also suggested UPSC to release answer key immediately after the civil services preliminary examination to enhance credibility, fairness and candidate's confidence.
The UPSC conducts civil services annually in three stages, prelims, mains and interview. Through this candidates are selected for Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officersβ posts.
The Parliamentary Committee in its earlier report stated: "UPSC may explore and take steps to release the answer key immediately after the preliminary examination and provide candidates with an opportunity to raise objections before proceeding further.β
