Schools, colleges and other educational institutions across Madhya Pradesh to remain closed until August 31, the government announced.

The Madhya Pradesh state government has directed all the government and private schools in the state to remain closed until August 31, 2020, owing to the rising number of coronavirus cases across the country. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also asked the private school not to charge any fees from students other than the tuition fees. He also said that the State Education Department will make sure that in case the parents are not able to pay the fee for the children their name will not be removed from the schools under any circumstances.

As per the Unlock 3.0 guidelines issued by the government, Yoga institutes and gyms have been allowed to open after August 5, 2020. The night curfew has also been removed in the state. However, Schools, metros and cinemas will continue to remain closed. The central ministry has stated that the lockdown will continue to be implemented strictly in the containment zones until August 31, 2020, and the schools, colleges, coaching institutions, and cinema halls will be closed until the end of August 2020.

Many of the state governments had earlier announced that the schools will remain closed until August 31, 2020, keeping in mind the rising COVID-19 cases in the respective states.

Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across the country have been kept closed since mid-March when the first lockdown was initiated. Since then most of the schools and colleges across the country are conducting online classes to avoid any academic loss.
