Schools in Delhi reopen today amid strict COVID-19 guidelines
The schools in Delhi have reopened ahead of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examination scheduled to begin in May.
Schools in Delhi reopened after ten months for Classes 10 and 12 on Monday; January 18, 2021. Students in government and private schools were welcomed with all the COVID-19 safety protocols put in place. Since mid-March, the schools across the country were closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and to contain it. The schools in Delhi have reopened ahead of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examination scheduled to begin in May.
Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia also extended his wishes to the students. "Best wishes to the students of class 10&12th who are going to visit their school today after 10 months... (though it's only for a limited purpose and with covid protocols..) But still... I am glad that schools are opening in Delhi today," Sisodia tweeted.
Kusum Shahwali, Principal of Sarvodaya Kanya Bal Vidhyalaya No-3, Delhi, told a media house that her school is following all COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
"We are doing thermal checks of everyone before they are entering the school premises. We are providing masks to students who don't have one. We are also making sure that students sanitise their hands regularly and maintain social distancing in school premises," she said.
On January 13, 2021, the Delhi government had announced its decision to reopen the schools. Delhi government in its circular had also announced that the schools will be reopened for conducting practicals, projects and other assignments in preparation for the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams. CBSE 2021 board exams are scheduled to be held from May 4.
