MEC Hyderabad students create India's first district-wise coronavirus tracker

A group of students at Mahindra Ecole Centrale (MEC) Hyderabad has developed India's first live, district-wise COVID-19 tracker website, CovIndia, which can be downloaded as a mobile application too. 

As per the reports, CovIndia is India's only district-wise coronavirus tracker website. This has been made with an aim to help people avoid virus-prone zones while travelling in the country, and also, to help authorities to mobilize resources more efficiently. The data provided on this website is first taken from credible sources like health ministry, news and others, which is then cross-checked and later, marked on the website map.

The website was developed primarily by Raghav NS (3rd year), Ananta Srikar (1st year), Rishab Ramanathan (1st year) along with other students at MEC, and under the guidance of their faculties. 

Speaking about the website, Raghav said that there is sufficient information available on the internet about the global country-wise impact of coronavirus. However, there was some dearth of information on individual districts of India. To overcome that, we have formed this website. 

The new district-wise Covid-19 tracker will help people in India to get very precise information regarding their district and the neighbouring ones. This district-wise data will help people to remain calm as even now, most of the districts in the country have not reported any cases of coronavirus, he added.

The total number of positive coronavirus patients in the country has today reached to 649. With Tamil Nadu witnessing its first casualty due to COVID-19. The death toll in the country has climbed to 13.
