TN Colleges Reopening: Tamil Nadu government reopened colleges and university campuses on Monday, i.e. February 8. Following the same, the state government issued new standard operating procedures, SOPs for universities, colleges, and hostels. The government issued the new guidelines considering the ongoing pandemic situation in the state.

According to the latest guidelines released, campuses cannot allow more than 50 percent of the students at any given point and every student, teacher, and non-teaching staff is required to maintain physical distancing as mentioned in the precautionary released by the health ministry against the COVID-19 spread. TN Colleges Reopening: New guidelines here 

  1. Wearing face masks all the time is compulsory inside the premises of the campus.
  2. College can allow only 50 percent of the total students at any point in time.
  3. An option to study online is available for all the students of all the courses.
  4. All extracurricular activities to be avoided where physical distancing is not possible.
  5. In engineering colleges, if space is constrained, to maintain physical distance, students from any two years will be allowed to attend classes in one day and the next day. This has to be repeated alternatively.
  6. Extended teaching hours for teachers as per the requirement of the institute.
  7. The six-day schedule should be followed so that classes can be conducted in phases and the seating arrangement be made keeping in view the requirements of physical distancing.
  8. Reduced class sizes and multiple shifts to be introduced according to the requirement.
  9. No visitors will be allowed inside the premises.
