Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) conducted Uccha Madhyamik/ Higher Secondary examination on March 2. School’s final examinations this year have got some significant modifications including ‘Bochor Bachao’ (save year) scheme. The scheme guarantees students’ admissions to colleges even after failing in two subjects. However, the student must score a minimum of 150 marks. The student will have to appear for a re-test within 75 days of results to continue higher education.

This year, a total of 27,142 candidates including 13,908 male and 13,234 female students have registered to write higher secondary exam papers. The Board will conduct the Higher Secondary examinations till March 31, and Madhyamik examination with the new syllabus and new patter will be conducted till March 21. The matriculation examinations are being conducted as well by the state education Board for students appearing for old pattern and syllabus. These exams will be conducted until March 27. A total of 50,569 candidates are appearing for the Madhyamik segment this year.

While talking about the changes introduced this year, TBSE president Dr Saha stated that according to the old regulations, any candidate failing in one subject while securing 150 marks minimum can appear for their failed papers in the compartmental category. However, under the new regulations, students failing in two subjects and securing a minimum of 150 marks can get an entry in colleges. In order to save the year, such students will be allowed to appear for a re-test within 75 days and pass it with required passing marks.
