All centrally-funded institutions have been asked to ensure strict compliance with the Government of India's orders or rules on the reservation.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all the universities and colleges across the country to fill up the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts under various reserved categories. The higher education regulator has asked the institutions receiving public funds to ensure effective implementation of the Reservation Policy as per Article 30 (I) of the Constitution of India.

On February 1, the UGC in a letter to all the institutions has said that it is mandatory to furnish details related to teaching and non-teaching vacancies as well as admissions to all level courses and hostel accommodation during 2020-21 on their website and on the UGC portal.

All centrally-funded institutions have been asked to ensure strict compliance with the Government of India's orders or rules on the reservation. “State universities including its affiliated or constituent colleges and other institutes functioning within the State should follow the percentage of reservation for SC/ST & OBC (Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes) EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) and Persons with Disabilities as prescribed by the concerned state government,” says UGC letter. The UGC has asked all institutions to fill up the remaining backlog of reserved vacancies under these categories in teaching and non-teaching posts. The letter states: “The above instructions should also be circulated to all the constituent and affiliated colleges.”
The UGC has also given its nod to 167 institutions under the 'Paramarsh' scheme to mentor 936 institutions not accredited by a public agency. The UGC has set a target for itself to help all the institutions attain a minimum accreditation score of 2.5 by the year 2022.
