According to the reports, the Open and Distance Learning Programme and Online Programs Regulations, 2020 were introduced by the UGC on September 4, 2020.

The University Grants Commission in its latest official notification has asked the Higher Education Institutions to submit proposals in order to offer online and distance learning courses from January 2021. According to the reports, the Open and Distance Learning Programme and Online Programs Regulations, 2020 were introduced by the UGC on September 4, 2020. The decision was taken considering the ongoing pandemic situation that disrupted the offline classes. As per the official notification, the online portal for submitting fresh applications will be open until October 15, 2020. 

According to the details mentioned on the official notification, the eligible Higher Educational Institutions are asked to submit fresh applications to UGC according to the UGC Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programme Regulations, 2020 for offering Open and Distance Learning programmes and Online programmes from 2020-21 academic session which is scheduled to commence from January 2021. 

The official notification released by UGC in this regard is available on the official website of the UGC, i.e. ugc.ac.in. The notification is also available at the end of the article. 

The notification further states that only the institutions eligible to offer such courses according to the new regulations will be able to submit the applications on the UGC portal for the January 2021 admission session. The notice also stated that the duly certified hard copy of the application along with the annexures should be read to the Distance Education Bureau office of UGC within 10 working days of the submission of the online application.
