UGC Chairman urges academic fraternity to spread coronavirus awareness
UGC Chairman has written a letter, appealing all educational fraternity to keep themselves safe and to spread awareness about the precautionary measures one should take to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
With the rising number of coronavirus positive cases in the country, UGC Chairman has written a letter requesting everyone to take proper care, to avoid further spread.
Professor D.P.Singh, Chairman, University Grant Commission (UGC), has appealed all Honourable Vice-Chancellors of universities across the country, Principals of over 40,000 colleges, 14 lakh teachers, non-teaching staff and more than three crore students to take all precautionary steps, to save themselves. He has also requested them to keep patience and raise awareness amongst family members, relatives, friends, colleagues and other sections of the society.
We all, from the educational fraternity, must join hands to stop the spread of the coronavirus, he added.
In this hour of crisis, where the whole world is passing through a difficult period, if timely precautions are observed, whole mankind can be saved, he said.
While making an appeal to the academicians, he said, teachers are nation builders and they have a great responsibility towards building a nation and the society. In this hour, the nation and the people of this country need us. I request all the teaching fraternity to take a step forward in doing what they are best at i.e. 'teaching'. Teach the society, individual, elderly, children, everyone else the preventive and precautionary measures to fight coronavirus.
If we are ourselves are fit, we can help society to remain fit. Let us all join hands to fight the further spread of coronavirus.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has allowed work from home to all teachers, researchers, and non-teaching staff until March 31.
