UP Budget 2021: National Law University to be set up in Prayagraj
An amount of Rs 100 crore is proposed for the construction of houses for judges of the High Court.
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up National Law University in Prayagraj. The decision has been taken in the 2021-2022 budget session to set up the university while Rs 450 crore has been allocated for buildings of courts in districts.
An amount of Rs 100 crore is proposed for the construction of houses for judges of the High Court. A budget provision of Rs 150 crore has been made for building construction of Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court and Rs 450 crore for Allahabad High Court is made.
Rs 20 crore received from the sale of welfare stamps is being proposed for transfer to the trustee committee of Lawyers Welfare Fund.
In the state Budget, Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has announced that the government has provided funds for various new and ongoing projects in Prayagraj and neighbouring districts of Pratapgarh and Kaushambi. Among the proposals in the Budget, he also announced that the MD Eye hospital in the city will be getting funds for a diabetic retinopathy treatment centre.
“The centre will benefit diabetic patients who develop complications due to high sugar levels in their blood and even face the threat of losing vision in an advanced stage. We have an operational unit providing treatment for this specific ailment. The funds proposed in the Budget will further strengthen the facility and will help patients from Prayagraj as well as neighbouring districts,” said Dr S P Singh, MD eye hospital and MLN Medical college principal.
The funds were also allocated for starting teaching in under-construction medical colleges in Pratapgrah, Fatehpur, Mirzapur from July 2021. For this, a Budget of Rs 960 crore is proposed.
