Uttarakhand plans to introduce single online learning platform for all colleges
The department said that it will hold offline exams only if the COVID-19 situation is stable in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand state higher education department is planning to bring online education on a single platform for colleges amid the ongoing closure of the educational institutions, universities, schools and colleges due to the rise in the number of novel coronavirus cases. According to the reports, department officials said that it is conducting a project which will help thousands of students enrolled in state government-run degree colleges and universities across the state access online classes on a single platform.
Talking about the importance of a single platform for online education, state higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat, said that the decision has been taken to make sure that the quality of education doesn’t get compromised and students are well prepared for their semester exams. Asking students not to get complacent, he further asked them to continue with their exam preparation.
In order to review the situation and talk about the conduct of semester exams amid the ongoing pandemic situation, the state education minister held a meeting with the vice-chancellors of different Uttarakhand universities and officials of the state higher education department. During the meeting, the panel decided that the state will observe the COVID-19 situation and will take a call on holding the offline semester-end examinations in the coming months. The department said that it will hold offline exams only if the COVID-19 situation is stable in Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, considering the rising number of COVID-19 cases and restrictions imposed in order to contain the virus spread, the state higher education department will remain closed until May 18 and all staffers will be working from home.
