Uttarakhand schools directed to charge only tuition fees for lockdown period
Students of other classes who are still being taught online have to pay only the tuition fees, it said. The order also asked schools to treat sympathetically any request from guardians to pay fees in installments.
The Uttarakhand government has directed all the schools in the state that reopened on February 8 for classes 6 to 9 and 11 to charge only the tuition fees from the students for the lockdown period. Schools in the state were closed last year in mid-March due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The whole academic year was conducted online to avoid any loss to students.
The schools can ask for total fees from these students only from the date on which they resumed physical classroom teaching, an order issued by Secretary, School Education, R Meenakshi Sundaram said.

The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has earlier announced that as many as 2.72 lakh students will be sitting for the UBSE 10th and UBSE 12th examinations this year. A total of 1,347 exam centres have been finalised for the upcoming board exams. The decision finalizing a total of 1,347 exam centres for Uttarakhand Board Exams 2021 was taken at a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. The meeting was chaired by the state board Secretary Ms Neeta Tiwari.
Out of the total number of exam centres, the maximum number of exam centres i.e. 166 falls under Pauri District, while the lowest number of exam centres i.e. 40 fall in Champawat. Of the total 1,347 exam centres, 223 centres have been identified as sensitive and 23 have been earmarked as very sensitive centres.
