Uttarakhand government has asked private schools in the state not to increase the fees for this academic year.

Uttarakhand government has directed private schools across the state to not hike their fees in the current academic session. In an order dated June 22, the government stated that the private schools can neither hike their fee during the academic year 2020-21 in view of the coronavirus lockdown nor take any fee other than tuition charges.

As per the order, only those schools can charge the tuition fee from the students who have been conducting online classes during the lockdown. The order issued by Secretary (Secondary Education) R Meenakshi Sundaram stated. The order further added that students cannot be struck off the rolls in case of any delay in payment of tuition fees. The directions, as per a media house, were issued in compliance with a Uttarakhand High Court order.

Several state governments across the country including the Karnataka Government had directed private unaided schools in the state not to increase the tuition fees during the 2020-21 academic year. This has been done keeping in mind the financial constraints faced by people due to coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown imposed to contain it.

In case, school management collect tuition fees higher the academic year 2019-20, strict action will be taken under the provisions of the Karnataka Education Act.

In mid-March, all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across the country were closed due to a sudden outbreak of coronavirus in the country. The lockdown was imposed because of which not only academic activities were closed but also several state boards have to postpone their respective Board exam.

The Uttarakhand government has recently released the revised Uttarakhand Board Date Sheet, as per that Class 10th and 12th board examination for the remaining subjects will be conducted between June 22 and June 25, 2020. The Board exams in the state were earlier postponed due to the nation-wide lockdown imposed to contain further spread of coronavirus.

According to the UBSE board exams date sheets 2020, the UK 10th and UK 12th examinations were scheduled to begin from March 2 and conclude on March 25.
