Tezpur University Convocation 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the eighteenth convocation of Tezpur University, stated that virtual universities are the future of education. During the Tezpur University convocation, PM Modi also talked about the education sector is witnessing the new technological interventions all across the globe and how the possibilities of virtual universities in India are rising. Addressing the students and faculty members, PM added, “In which students and faculty members from all over the world will be able to participate virtually.”

While talking about the new education policy, “There are regulations needed to create such universities. He said that the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 looks in that direction.” Narendra Modi added, “The NEP it emphasises on data analytics which will be used for various purposes including admission and teaching.” Lauding the initiates taken and innovative efforts made by Tezpur University as well as its students in other parts of the country, the PM urged the students to do more innovation which would take India ahead.

Considering the ongoing pandemic situation and the risk of COVID-19 spread, Tezpur University conducted its eighteenth convocation both virtually and in-person following the precautionary laid down by the health ministry. The varsity also released guidelines for students and faculty for attending the convocation ceremony.

According to the reports, ahead of the convocation, the varsity stated, Only PhD scholars and toppers will receive their degrees and gold medals in-person. The remaining outgoing students of Tezpur University will get their degrees and diplomas virtually.
