Coronavirus: Indian Army cancels all services selection board interviews

All the interviews of the services selection board have been cancelled by the Indian army. Aspirants are meant to clear the interview before coming on board as the officers in the armed forces. According to government officials, the decision was taken considering the increasing cases of coronavirus infections in the country. Military aspirants are required to appear for SSB interviews that take place for four days. The interviews are conducted at varied centres across the country such as Bhopal, Allahabad and Bengaluru. Later this week, the first such interviews were likely to commence.

According to a government official, the interviews could not be held in current situations. He further stated that candidates would be notified when the interviews would be conducted. As of now, no date has been fixed. Apart from this, the Navy and the Indian Air Force are also probably going to cancel SSB interviews. On Tuesday, the Indian army had deferred a number of its courses for its officers to evade the spread of the novel coronavirus. Next week, these courses were supposed to commence in various parts of the country. Apart from this, unnecessary conferences, training and movement have also been cancelled.

For the last few weeks, a number of public and private organisations have suspended their services. Almost all the states have cancelled their exams for an indefinite time period as a precaution to evade coronavirus spread. So far, 147 confirmed cases of coronavirus patients have been reported in India from different parts of the country.
