Cornell certification, dual degree for Hospitality students in India
With the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) joining hands with Cornell School of Administration, US, Indian students could soon have an opportunity to get a Cornell degree sitting right in Delhi. The proposed collaboration is expected to endow students with chance to study online courses and eventually receive a dual degree at economical cost.
The collaboration will be spread over two phases:
- Phase 1: Experts from Cornell School will study the curriculum of BSc in H & HA, interact with various stakeholders and visit Indian training facilities before giving their recommendations
- Phase 2: Faculty development programme will be taken up for various institutes under NCHMCT. All this will entail no extra cost to students of the BSc programme, but they will receive a much higher level of education.
Besides this, students can also pick to pursue an online programme in addition to the regular programme as an add-on certification. The cost of the online program, presently, is $700 per course per person with each programme encompassing 6 to 8 courses. After the successful completion of the one year programme, students will be issued a certificate of excellence by the Cornell University in favour of students for that particular programme.
Subsequently, the association also aims to kick off a dual degree post-graduate programme for students.
Features of the dual degree post-graduate programme:
- Students will get to complete one year in India and then proceed for one year in Cornell campus at Ithaca, New York
- After successful completion of one year at Cornell, they will be awarded the Master's Degree in Hospitality Administration (MHA) by Cornell and its credit will be transferred for Master's Degree in India.
- The course will lead students to have two degrees - one from Cornell and another from NCHMCT, IGNOU.
