Mystory@Rohini B: How I selected my course and made my career
In school days I was fascinated by computers. Looking at my interest my father inspired me to get into this world of technology. In order to get into this field I completed my Class 12th in Science stream and then for graduation I selected Computer Science.
In 1997, when I was in Class 12th my father brought my dream computer at home and I started exploring and learning different programming languages like COBOL, PASCAL and then C. This increased my interest in problem solving. Today, I am working in the field of technology because of my interest in programming. I have 10 plus years of experience in software development and I love programming and hence, the challenges.
Yes, definitely I have chosen the right career. I’m often asked why I chose this career and the answer is simple – technology has never failed to amaze me and fortunately I have been in the right generation to be able to keep up and observe the impact that it has on the world. For me, the most attractive aspect of technology is problem solving. During this 10 plus years of experience in software development there were lot of challenges which I faced, but I believe in never giving up no matter how hard the situation is.
Even though I started my career in a very small firm, I learnt a lot of new skills.
Experience teaches a lot. Overall experience was both - sweet and sour. Good experiences help us to sustain while bad ones give a lesson for future. Experience teaches how to deal with different people, what motivates team members, management skills, and how to deal with aggressive people being patient. It gives us an opportunity to learn every day.
My tips for career selection are that you should always choose the field of your interest and love. It will help you give a boost to your life. It will also give you work satisfaction and ultimately money.

I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from KTHM College. Currently, I am working with Winjit Technologies, Nashik as a Senior Software Engineer. My hobbies are reading, listening to music, and painting. I love programming.
