Beginning 2013-14, anyone seeking admission to Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degrees in agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, animal husbandry, veterinary sciences and fisheries will have to take the state-administered CET.

Now the Common Entrance Test (CET) will be the way to go for students aspiring to pursue agriculture courses as well.

Beginning 2013-14, anyone seeking admission to Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degrees in agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, animal husbandry, veterinary sciences and fisheries will have to take the state-administered CET. This year, the tests will be held on May 1, 2 and 3.

About 3,000 seats will fall under the CET which includes University of Agricultural Sciences (Bangalore, Raichur and Dharwad), University of Horticultural Sciences (Bagalkot), and Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (Bidar).

The state government decided to hand over the responsibility of conducting the entrance test to the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) earlier this week. However, the seat allotment will not be made by the KEA, but by a common admission cell of the State universities offering the courses. It is expected to be preference and rank-based.
