Yes, admissions are currently open at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, but only through the official NEET counselling process. For MBBS, candidates must have qualified NEET-UG and participate in the ongoing WBMCC counselling. Postgraduate admissions like MD/MS require NEET-PG, scheduled for August 3, 2025, with counselling to follow. For super-specialty courses like DM/MCh, NEET-SS counselling is also underway. The highest package offered at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital is INR 25 LPA, and the average package is around INR 6 LPA. Around 80% of the students get placed every year. Before getting a job, MBBS students also have to do a mandatory one-year internship as part of the course. The stipend for those internships usually ranges between INR 30 K to INR 45 K per month.

Kar Medical College & Hospital—or any recognised medical college in India—without clearing NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate). The National Medical Commission (NMC) and Supreme Court mandate NEET as the sole qualifying entrance exam for MBBS across all government, private, and deemed institutions in India .
